Spell Scout Adventures

An ancient-looking man stands before you, his long beard downright stereotypical of a man with his magical talent and age. Alf Merlinmeyer, steward of Yellowstone National Park and (technical) head of the Spell Scouts looks you and your friends over with an inscrutable gaze.

"As the newest troop of Spell Scouts, you are tasked with understanding and protecting the magical and natural world around us." His voice is deep and severe, as though this were the most important speech he has ever given in his life. "You will make friends and learn more than you can ever imagine as a member of this group, but do not take likely the pact you enter into. Once a member of the Spell Scouts, your life will never be the same."

He draws from hiding an ancient crystal, swirling with magical energies that remind you of the Grand Prismatic Spring. "Do you vow to serve the park, as I have?"

Spell Scout Adventures is a roleplaying game set in the world of Blaseball. Rather than seek to emulate the mechanics or story of the game, it sets itself in the Yellowstone National Park of the Immaterial Plane, a beautiful and wondrous place of nature and magic, each equally unknowable. You play a Spell Scout, tasked with learning about the park and its secrets as you also learn about yourself, sing campfire songs, and make s'mores. With luck, you'll earn a Sigil to represent the skills you gain, make new friends, or make a pact with one of the fair folk living in the park. This is your summer, and nothing could possibly go wrong!

This game is currently a first draft beta. The mechanics are complete and there is context provided for the world. Future development goals include:

• Improved formatting.
• A round of editing for clarity.
• Additional mechanics for things like teamwork, and perhaps things that are a bit more supernatural.
• Suggestions for plots and story hooks.
